We want to highlight an incredible small business that is showcasing the power of inclusive, community-led entrepreneurship and what people can achieve when barriers are removed.

Mightie Makers is an online handmade marketplace for jewellery, accessories, cards and other crafts created by talented crafters who just happen to be disabled, chronically ill or have become a carer for loved ones.

It was founded by Sharon Fielding and Karen Thomas based on their lived experiences of multiple chronic illnesses and mobility challenges.

Speaking to Motability Lifestyle magazine, Karen and Sharon said the platform was built to “create a community for people with disabilities” after recognising the isolation and loss of purpose many people experience following diagnosis.
