EmployAble welcomes the publication of the independent review into Young People and Work led by former Health Minister Alan Milburn, and commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The report recognises a failure of government and employers to remove the significant challenges that young people with disabilities, including learning disabilities, face when seeking and staying in work.

Crucially, it highlights the “stacked” barriers faced by young people with learning disabilities and the urgent need for meaningful action.

At EmployAble, we know that people with learning disabilities who want to work can work if given the appropriate support. We hope this timely report encourages more opportunities and pathways to help secure and maintain employment.
